R. Lee England, M.D.
R. Lee England, IV, M.D.,
is a caring surgeon who has more than 10 years of experience in repairing hernias of the abdominal wall. Dr. England serves as
the director of the Alabama Hernia Center™. He has the expertise and skills to produce outstanding
surgical results for patients with incisional, umbilical, inguinal, sports and femoral hernias.
Dr. England graduated from the University of Tennessee and earned three letters as a member of the varsity football team. He earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College and performed a surgical internship at the University of Kentucky. Dr. England's surgical training continued at two of the top medical facilities in the South, Vanderbilt Medical Center and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Christopher J. Schaffer, M.D.
Christopher J. Schaffer, M.D.,
is an experienced plastic surgeon who carefully listens to the goals and expectations of each patient to help them achieve the
best possible surgical results.
Dr. Schaffer is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, earned his medical doctorate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and performed residencies at Temple University Hospital, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Schaffer is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of professional organizations that include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
William J. Hedden, M.D.
William J. Hedden, M.D.,
has the experience, the surgical skills and the artistic eye to make your surgery experience a successful one at our

Dr. Hedden is a graduate of the University of Florida. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine and completed a residencies at Louisiana State University Medical Center and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Hedden is board certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of many prestigious professional organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is affiliated with several Birmingham, Alabama area hospitals, including Trinity Medical Center, Brookwood Medical Center and Children's Hospital.
